4design is headed by Will Grant, Janelle Barker, Lee Liston and Robbie Wells. We employ the best designers with a significant amount of industry experience and provide the tools and equipment for them to create outstanding products.
Our people include product designers, graphic designers and mechanical engineers. They are the core to our business and all driven by the same values, with a passion for innovation and creation.
Before founding 4design, Will worked for some of the biggest and busiest leading Product Design consultancies in the world. Initially in NZ/Australia before joining Fitch in London, United Kingdom, and then onto United States as Design leader for a new Fitch-GE studio he helped to establish. During 25 years in the consultancy environment Will has worked on projects for: McLaren, Ford, Samsung, Bosch, Xbox, Sony, Lenovo, GE, Dell, Motorola and many more fortune 500 companies. His work with GE allowed him to help develop industry changing technologies and conceptual engineering. Will’s work has been awarded many international and domestic awards for his clients, he is passionate about helping people from startups to large firms achieve business success through good design and execution.
Janelle is an accomplished international award winning designer with over 25 years of experience embedded within product development studios and graphic design houses. Starting out as an Illustrator & Graphic Designer her career has been diverse including creative work in publishing, advertising, trends research, emerging technology and materials as well as product design and development. Janelle’s diverse experience and understanding of global market trends brings a unique insight and sophistication into each new design challenge. She has worked in New Zealand, Australia, London/Europe and the US, for a wide range of clients.
Lee is a founding partner and one of the country’s most experienced Industrial designers with 25 years of product design experience. His accomplishments include the University Medal, Australian Product Design of the Year, multiple Red Dot, Chicago, IDSA and IF awards but his most recognised product is the design of the Opal Card Ticketing system for Transport for NSW which is now the benchmark in public transport ticketing systems. He’s worked for companies such as Nike, Qantas, Oakley, Emotiv, Resmed, Electrolux, City of Sydney, Sydney Olympics to name a few. Lee is a proven visionary designer, with the engineering and production implementation skills to back it up.
Robbie is a founding partner of 4design with 30 years’ experience as an Industrial Designer. His work has been recognised globally with the Australian Product Design of the Year, Red Dot, Chicago Good Design, IDSA, Australian Engineering and IF awards. A master designer, his knowledge and skills have been honed at some of the world’s best design companies prior to starting 4design. Robbie has a deep knowledge of design and how this is applied to a wide variety of specialist industries such as Cyber Security, Infrastructure and Medical. Robbie leads the team at 4design Australia with real world experience and a passion for great design.
