Shower Canary approached 4DESIGN with the vision of creating a device that addresses the common household challenge of prolonged showers, which waste water and energy. The goal was to develop an innovative, easy-to-use product that encourages sustainable habits and fits seamlessly into any shower setup.
The process involved an extensive development journey. Numerous prototypes were tested to ensure optimal functionality and ease of use. The result is a refined product that integrates state-of-the-art sensor technology, providing a practical solution for families and individuals.
The design solution we developed includes a sensor, hub, and app designed to monitor water usage and provide visual and audible feedback to the user. Not only does it provide real-time water usage data, but it also stores information in the cloud, offering daily, weekly, and yearly statistics on water and energy consumption. This concept is backed by behavioral science research.
The final product, Shower Canary, is a revolutionary device that brings smart technology into the bathroom. Its patented sensor technology monitors water usage in real-time, providing gentle reminders to keep showers efficient.
